ECE Course Instructor & Program Specialist

Chris Baroody

Chris Baroody joined ECSC in 2022 as an ECE Course Instructor. The adults who say yes to this new adventure are some of the best students Chris has had the privilege of teaching. The collaboration between ECSC’s young and older professionals is an amazing intergenerational connection that extends beyond the classroom. Chris’s role has expanded and she now also serves as the Program Specialist, supporting Partner Sites in new ways.

Over the years Chris has had the opportunity to teach a wide range of children and adults. In early years, as a middle school reading teacher, Chris formed a passionate belief that your work as a teacher starts with the student before you. Ultimately, working with reluctant learners forged a path that led Chris to Early Childhood Education. Understanding that early education makes all the difference in a child’s longitudinal educational trajectory, Chris has spent over two decades as a teacher, administrator and instructional coach in early childhood arenas. Impacting change through revamping systems, instructional coaching and staff development has been her passion and mission.

An experienced educator and leader, Chris has served in Jefferson County, supporting teachers through coaching and professional learning. At the university level, Chris has had the opportunity to teach coursework and coach teacher candidates since 2012, partnering with undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary and Special Education. Chris has experience across the private and public sector supervising and providing instructional coaching to both veteran and novice teachers. Witnessing the evolution from teacher candidate to classroom teacher to child advocate is an amazing process, and has shaped Chris’s leadership style and her advocacy for all whom she serves.

A native of Colorado, Chris loves the majestic mountains and four seasons. While she enjoys skiing, hiking and yoga, there is also something special about sitting in front of a roaring fire with the snow falling outside and her nose stuck in a great book. A lifelong learner, Chris enjoys embracing new adventures. The third child of nine, mother of four, and grandmother of one, Chris also enjoys gathering with family and friends to share home time and food. Chris says, “While I lost my husband unexpectedly in March of 2022, I am grateful for the 36 ½ years we shared a story.  I feel incredibly blessed to live close to my mom and many of my extended family.”
